just got this now:arapas7 wrote today at 1:09 AMDear poshbaby888 –

Greetings! It came to my attention that a complaint about a Del Monte product was posted in your blog. I am writing here to assure you and your fellow mommies that we take all consumer feedback very seriously and conduct a thorough investigation of each and every complaint.

Our Company has already retrieved a sample of the alleged foreign matter for analysis and the complainant, Gertee Borja, informed us that she will bring the packaging and the foreign matter to BFAD for further testing. We have requested complainant to furnish us with the BFAD results when available. In the meantime, we will submit a portion of the foreign matter to an independent third party testing agency. Separately, we will also conduct our own laboratory analysis.

With respect to the concern that the foreign matter allegedly found in the product is a squid, we have to note that it is impossible for any seafood – or any foreign object for that matter- to be present in the finished product given the nature of the equipment and the processes employed in its production. Our processes involve, among others, screening and filtering to remove any possible foreign object prior to filling in the individual packs.

Also, I would like to take this opportunity to clarify that the “rat parts” complaint previously raised is untrue. The laboratory investigation conducted by the UP Natural Sciences Research Institute has concluded that the product issue was a fungi. Such irregularity was caused by a pinhole on the pack. I have sent through your gmail account a scanned copy of the Business Mirror news article regarding our response to this previous complaint, in case you need more details; this is the same news article that your co-blogger, animetric, has shared in your forum through a link to her own blog.

Again, please be assured that Del Monte Philippines continues to be committed to provide our consumers products of high quality and to uphold the trust that our consumers have given us in the last 80+ years.

Sincerely,
Joel Omana
Manager- Quality Assurance
Del Monte Phils. Inc.

I finally had the time and patience to sort Yona’s things (and mine).
Total eyesore na kasi =)

Earlier today I started removing the not so good toys from the ones worth keeping and I could not imagine how we have accumulated much toys from fastfoods (Jollibee and McDo)! Ang dami talaga! What I did was kinalat ko muna lahat and started sorting from there and she started “Hey, there’s my ________”, “There’s my _________!”. Hmp. Nagliligpit nga eh.

I already kept her baby toys (Alphabet Pal, Rattles, Mobile, Large Puzzles, etc) as she will no longer use it, maybe for the next baby? hehe I separated the toys, books and other materials that we will be using for her classes for easy access.

Sorted Blocks

Her toy rack is finally empty!

Yoe feels better now though I could she still could not drink her milk.

And finally, natanggal ko na rin ang Christmas Tree hahahaha, it’s been there for ages! Hello summer na hahaha

I am giving myself until 3PM to sort all of these, hay sana kayanin ko to.

It seems that we’re facing a blank wall and that our complaint did not serve it’s useful purpose.

The first one to reply after several follow-up calls was Del Monte. The girl who answered Gertee told her that they need to see [and examine] the specimen first and reminded her that the rat parts issue was not true and in fact it was just a mold brought about by a small hole on the pouch blah blah blah. So Gertee asked her, have you seen my email and the attached pictures? No. Duh. It sure isn’t mold, right?

After several phone transfers, napunta call niya to a certain Ms. Joy of DoH. Oh di ba, she was calling BFAD, nakarating siya ng DoH :)

Ms. Joy enumerated to her the actual process of the complaint IF she was really willing to file a complaint against the Giant Company, Del Monte. She was trying hard not to sound discouraging – pero parang ganun na rin. She told Gertee that she has to go through a lot of this and that, blah blah blah ALONE. That if she wants daw to be free from all the hassle, she should give the specimen to Del Monte for them to investigate the case. Hay…

So asan na ang support from the government?

Pasok…Consumer Act of the Philippines

Bottomline nito, in cases like this: REPLACEMENT OF PRODUCT OR REFUND lang pala.

So she asked her “Di man lang kayo mag-didig deeper sa issue?” to which she was answered with “Kayo, kung gusto niyong mag file ng case pero ibang usapan na yun..” something to that effect. Hello…Gertee Borja against Del Monte…

This is so disappointing.

Yona’s burning with fever since last night because of this. She has a large one in her lips and a medium size in her tongue.

She doesn’t drink milk.

She won’t eat either.

Until now her body temperature is still 38.4 degrees.

Helpppp!

Pasintabi po sa mga kumakain, kakain o magluluto ng ulam na may Tomato Sauce….

Last night I got a buzz from my BFF Gertee:

Gertz (3/25/2009 9:33:12 PM): Preti!
Gertz (3/25/2009 9:33:36 PM): Me nakita akong parang pusit s loob ng pouch ng delmonte tomato sauce!!
Gertz (3/25/2009 9:33:41 PM): Pakshet! (CENSORED)

Gertz (3/25/2009 9:33:56 PM):
Gertz (3/25/2009 9:34:30 PM): Dati me ng email n s kin n me daga ang delmonte sauce pero dis 1 prang pusit n ewan eh!
Gertz (3/25/2009 9:34:38 PM): Syang luto ko n mechado!
Iris (3/25/2009 9:35:20 PM): yes pretty, totoo yun kasi taga ABSCBN living in Imus yung naka find out

Iris (3/25/2009 9:35:29 PM): Sa PUREGOLD IMUS niya binili
Gertz (3/25/2009 9:45:31 PM): Fuck
(CENSORED)
Gertz (3/25/2009 9:45:46 PM): Ng picture ko na
Gertz (3/25/2009 9:45:59 PM): Kadiriii!
Gertz (3/25/2009 9:46:09 PM):

Want to see the pictures?

Hold your breath….

It looks like a squid but it could not be!
Because tomato sauces could not have a squid inside the pack, right?

But whatever it is…it should not be there…

Ewwww…..

Remember this complaint?

The said item was bought in PureGold Imus and Gertee said she could have bought hers in SM Molino —- wahhhhhh same batch siguro to!!! Puregold is only a few kilometers away from SM Molino! Mr. Bautista got the heart of the rat and Gertee probably received the body…eeeeewwwwww!

Anyway she already raised this complaint to Del Monte, let’s see what they’re going to do next :)

Ang gulo gulo…masyado siyang complex para sa mura kong isipan hahaha

You know how to reach me naman :)

Lots of LVE,
Iris

She loves putting -ED on her verbs these days :)

While playing online games:
Yona: Where did it goED, mommy?!?!
Me: It’s just “Where did it go?” sweetie
Yona: awwww, okay!

Inutusan ko:
Yona: What did you said?!? (she pronounced it as SEYD)
Me: What did you say nga lang…
Yona: Okay, okay…

the following day, inutusan ko ulit:
Yona: What did you say, mommiED!?!?!?!

Kaloka!

It’s been a very sad day. I was feeling anxious since this morning because I was already anticipating the bad news from Marcelle’s office. Who would have thought that a stable company like theirs will feel much more get affected by the global financial crisis?
Earlier in the afternoon I was already getting “hints” from previous bosses that some really got laid-off, but I never expected that there were a lot! From the twenty-one (21) Team Leads, only eleven (11) got retained. Four (4) were also permanently laid-off from the Project Management, the section where I worked before. Plus a lot more from other sections. Bad.

Compared to the other companies out there, theirs are so kuripot but what’s keeping these people from leaving the company is the camaraderie and positive spirit they have built all these years. I know that as I have been with them for 9 years. I am just thankful that I left the office earlier than this or else…baka ako ang naunang naospital sa kakaiyak kanina.

Marcelle arrived late today (2am), he was so silent and so “disoriented” but I still managed to ask him how the day went. I know that he wanted to talk about it, ako din. We were so lucky that he wasn’t included and that he still has a job but we couldn’t feel any happiness because almost all of our TL friends lost theirs!

I never heard nor seen Marcelle cry but today he confessed that he really cried after the meeting :(

Yoe turned 3.5 today so when my mom paid a visit this afternoon she bombarded me with “She should be in school na this June” and “Ay nakakatuwa naman tingnan kung naka-uniform na si Yoe” comments again. Ohhh pleeeease….

I told her that I am not putting Yoe in school and reminded her that “hello, Yona’s homeschooled na…” but all I got was a stare. Hmp. It was like telling me silently that I cannot do it and she doesn’t trust me again – at least that’s how I read it. I grew up believing that my mom doesn’t approve ANY of my decisions. But perhaps the only type of education she has in mind was the traditional one hence the stare. Whatever.

Deep inside me I know that the little girl is doing good, and as a mom who wants to get the better of education, I know that putting her in a homeschool program which I believe is the best (I so love and believe in you BTF!) is the most advisable option there is. For a mom like me who raises and eyebrow in the education system and the politics in schools, homeschooling na! But the question is, can we afford it? I don’t know but this is what I want for my child so Dada must do something or else…

Ok.

I was given a leaflet this afternoon with the basic computation of expenses for pre-school:

basic tuition fee P20,000
books P5,000
PE uniform P650
miscellaneous P1,500
——————————-
P27,150

PLUS: Entrance fee for first time students: P1,350 (what is this for?)

How about the expenses for the uniform? baon? service? extracurricular activities?

…and will I be getting my money’s worth? P30K is such a big amount for us, so sana ma-gain ng anak ko yung dapat niyang makuha.

I only want the best education for my child kahit di naman siya gifted at di kami mayaman but she is my child and I pity her that because we are underprivileged, she doesn’t get to do ballet, figure skating, etc. So I want to “make bawi” by providing her the best education & teachers but the problem is, I already met the best (and nicest!) teachers in the planet so I am having a darn hard time looking for better ones (or at least man lang matapatan ang galing nila…)

I am just a mom with an average mind but fully believes that the world could offer so much opportunities for her child. So my question now is whether I take the risk of putting her in a nearby school and just supply her with the “add-ons” (ano to software? hahaha) or continue homeschooling her.

I love spending relaxing time with you,
all my problems gone in a minute or two.
with that smile and your little cheer,
mommy’s issues faced without fear.

reading a book with you by my side,
watching you sleep morning or night.
hug you, kiss you and tuck you to bed,
lots and lots of love we have shared!

eating your favorite meal all day
I want to tell them, if I may?
just plain rice from sun up to sun down
because veggies and pork make you frown!

oh my little girl, you bring so much glee
to mommy & daddy, to everyone, you see!
we love you with all our heart, & with that smile & when you talk,
I’m glad that this is just a start!
