I easily get pissed whenever I receive SMS written in TextSpeak. But what’s more annoying is when TextSpeak is used in mediums such as blogs, forums, testimonial spaces and e-mails where SPACE IS UNLIMITED.

It is such an eyesore. I simply hate it including the person sending the effin’ message. For me it’s too inappropriate.

I just had the chance to visit one of my social networking accounts when I came across this testimonial:

Can somebody please translate this for me? I mean, I can read and translate it obviously, but it took me 5 minutes to read one.simple.freakin.nonsense.message.

Such a waste of time.

To those interested here’s my take on that message:

“Uy, haha. Kayo po pala iyan. Di ko po kayo namukhaan. [i know what this means because it's a conventional chat lingo for 'big grin or laugh'] Musta ka po? Miss you too! Ayun po. Di pa ako dalaga ah. Isip bata pa nga eh. Cge, iyon lang po..Ingat..Muah!”

So there, what I don’t understand here is why should they change the spelling of the word pa? In chat lingo, we abbreviate words because we need to, right? Typing ‘LAUGHING OUT LOUD’ every time my LOL syndrome strikes is definitely time & space consuming, hence we write ‘LOL’ – but in this example, she even spelled the MUSTA as MXTAA! See my point? Abbreviating is not the issue here, it’s how these kids taking textspeak to a whole new level much to their disadvantage.
