I am a stay-at-home-mom who leaves home everyday. I make it a point NOT to finish all my errands in a day so I have a reason to leave the house again the following day. Not for selfish reasons but for Yona’s health. Yona by the way is yaya-less so its just the 3 of us at home so whenever I have errands, she goes with me. Normally, we would end up in malls to eat or to just window shop and yes, play in Toy Kingdom – Yona thinks that TK is a huge playground. In malls I can let her play and run around because I know that she IS safe. Oftentimes we play games like making words from cars with private number plates in the basement while we wait for other passengers.
But yesterday’s news really changed my perspective in staying in malls.
One shop in Greenbelt 5 was robbed. Greenbelt 5 by the way is the newest wing of Greenbelt. Built with state-of-the-art design, anyone who goes there would really feel safe because it LOOKS so secured. But how come armed men in Bomb Squad uniforms got it so easily? The management denied that it was their fault. One of the robbers was killed but others were able to ran off, rushed passed security guards (who were by the way ‘caught-off-guard’) and fled using a van. Christmas and Election 2010 is almost here so expect more of these crimes. Kidnapping, robbery, theft, etc.
That news really made me sick. I think the company handling Greenbelt 5 and Makati police should really be in their toes from now on. It IS in fact their job to keep people safe especially in this premiere shopping district.
