I just recently weaned Yona from her bottle so she’ll improve her eating habits. It was okay then, but when she turned four she was still drinking 5-8 bottles of milk everyday instead of eating 3 full meals, which isn’t good.
Now my problem is how to put more calcium on her diet when she doesn’t like to drink milk on a glass. Her pedia insisted that she still needs to drink milk at night. But how? She wouldn’t even try to sip!
According to Vincent Iannelli, M.D., contributor to About.com Pediatrics, a child’s Calcium needs are dictated by their age (See Resource Section for a link to this article). Kids aged 1 – 3 years require 500 mg of Calcium daily. Children 4 – 8 years need 800 mg of Calcium daily. Ages 9 – 18 require 1300 mg of Calcium daily.
My solution for the mean time is provide her high in calcium foods such as cheese, yogurt, graham crackers and orange juice fortified with calcium just so she gets the required calcium intake every day.

Sean will be turning 7 in 2 months and he still drinks 2-3 300ml of milk everyday atleast I try to give him milk with chocolate nesquick that way he would drink it. I guess it’s just a matter of how you deliver it to your children. Some instances would be him watching tv and I’d offer yogurt or milk with a vert appealing straw and chocolate syrup in it, you don’t even need much just a few to take the blandness out of the milk. He drinks milk before he sleeps in a sippy cup with a silicon spout, I don’t want to force him to drink from a cup at night because he might not drink any. He also eats vegetables more often than red meat, broccoli for instance is rich in calcium and also tropicana pure orange juices or minute maid freshly squeezed contains calcium as well so I try to balance everything out, my problem is protein though and I try soy milk everyday or at time tofu. My little boy seems to have become vegetarian\. I hope that helps.
Got the same problem like yours when Joyce turned 3 & I also decided to wean her that time…I was successful in weaning her from her bottle but it takes time for me to make her like the milk I gave her. It took us 6 mos. in choosing which milk she likes best & luckily now she likes birch tree & milo. Now she drinks at least 2-5 glasses a day.
Maybe Yona is just choosing the right milk that suits her taste..try & try!!!
