February is a special month for the Lopez Museum and this month is even better because the Lopez Museum celebrates 50th anniversary on February 18.

The activities of their Golden Jubilee will start with February 18, 2010 as they launch their coffee table book “Unfolding Half a Century: The Lopez Memorial Museum” and the opening of a cutting-edge exhibit “Threads: The Museum as Site for the Weaving of Tales”.

The exhibit Threads will feature contemporary artists like Ann Wizer, Jean Marie Syjuco, Ann Pamintuan, Myra Beltran, Jef Carnay, Kiri Dalena, and Leo Abaya. All of them were invited to showcase their works taken from their personal conception of the museum or to “cosplay” characters present in iconic works from the museum collection. Aside from these the highlights of their performances and installation pieces will be exhibited likewise at the Rockwell Power Plant Mall North Court starting February 19 to 25.

Alongside these activities is the opening of the Lopez Museum’s 50th anniversary exhibition to the public at the museums premises in Ortigas Center, Pasig. The said exhibit will feature works of Imelda Cajipe-Endaya, Antipas Delotavo, Gastos Damag and Keith Sicat. The said pieces were once part of the personal collection of the late Lopez Group founder Eugenio H. Lopez Sr. The Lopez Memorial Museum and Library collection now ranks as one of the finest in Asia.

A new website of the Lopez Museum www.lopez-museum.org will also be launched so visitors can access a searchable and indexed archive of roughly 100,000 images. Know more about the museum’s activities by becoming a fan, check out the Lopez Museum and Library Facebook page.
