After almost 10 years and 4 animated movies later, the Shrek Saga has come to an end with the “Shrek Forever After: The Final Chapter.”
The story:
When things are going well in the happy kingdom of Far Far Away, it’ no place for this down-and-out magical dealmaker who needs to bargain for a better life when everything is going great? But even before the ink is dry on his pact with Shrek, the new kingdom is Rumpelstiltskin’s domain. The villainous trickster lords over the land with his witch battalion… and he’s even placed a bounty on ogres, Shrek and Fiona in particular, to get rid of them once and for all. Watch how our beloved green Shrek leads the battle to regain everything that matters in his life. – Inquirer
We were among the first to watch Shrek Forever After: The Final Chapter in 3D or otherwise and we have Eastwood Cinemas to thank for. It was also the launch of the first ever 3D cinema in Eastwood City so we were so lucky to be there. What makes it so special was that it was my first time to watch a movie on 3D so I was so excited! (bonus na lang na first time kong nakita si Kris Aquino-Yap and kids during the press screening! LOL) I was with Yona and it was also her first time so I was expecting that she’d get cranky in the middle of the movie but boy I was wrong! She was glued the entire time the movie was shown!

About the movie:
Walt Dohrn (Rumpelstiltskin), who serves as head of story, says, “In the first film, Shrek learns to love himself; in the second, he learns what it is like being part of a family; in ‘Shrek the Third’, he comes to terms with accepting responsibility as a father and husband. In the fourth and final film, he is faced with a big question: what if his life had turned differently?”
My personal views:
In this movie, Shrek is suffering from mid-life crisis which I can relate to, heck I am just 29 but I feel like I’m 45! Like him, I can already feel the monotony of life since I am a work-at-home-mom and according to Ya Kun Kaya Ortigas owner’s daughter “it’s just the same everyday!”. It’s really just the same everyday though I make it a point to attend events for variation.
And remember Puss? Oh boy, he gained weight that he needed the best fat burners in Far Far Away Land! I feel for him because ten years ago I weighed a little over 100 lbs. but I’m 165 lbs. now
At the end of the day, my love for my family will prevail and like Shrek, I just need some time off – but I wouldn’t sign any hocus-pocus contract made by Rumpelstiltskin!
I learned a lot of things from Shrek Forever After: The Final Chapter but the most important thing was – you will never appreciate something until it’s gone. It’s one sad reality of life
…and now, the glasses:
According to my co-bloggers, the Dolby 3D glasses we were given were sturdier compared to the ones used in SM Cinemas. But here’s the catch, HANDLE THE GLASSES WITH CARE because it’s not yours, and you will pay a freakin’ P2,000 if you lose or break it.
Upon buying your tickets, you’ll be handed a tiny sheet of paper (approximately 3″x4″), and it serves as an agreement that you will pay the said amount once you lose or break the Dolby 3D glasses. The glasses also has anti-theft tag installed so YOU CANNOT BRING IT HOME

The worth P2,000 Dolby 3D glasses
DreamWorks Animation SKG Presents “Shrek Forever After”, a Paramount Pictures release, is directed by Mike Mitchell and distributed by United International Pictures thru Solar Entertainment Corporation. In theaters and IMAX 3D on May 20, 2010 (Thursday).
