Whoever said that raising a child is simple and is tricks are found in common Amazon books may not have raised a child herself. Each child is different and I know, even other mothers would agree that no one has perfected the ways in raising a child.

I want to raise my child well, not in a perfect way but she has to grow up loving God, her parents, and everyone around her. At 4 she’s sometimes cranky and throws a fit at times but I can see that she’s not mean.

Here are some tips in raising a happy children with better communication:

• Always tell them you love them. Those 3 simple words matter – A LOT. Tell them you love them every single day – the moment you wake up, during the day, and before going to bed. But don’t just say it – mean it. Make it a habit to tell them how much you love them just because.
• Eye Contact. Maintain eye contact when talking to your kids. Believe me, they’ll hear you more and you’ll find them more attentive in your conversations.
• Eliminate distractions during conversations. This I have to master yet. As much as possible, focus on your child when talking to him or her. Give them your full attention during conversations to let them know that what they have to say is more important than anything else.
• Talk WITH them. More often than not, we talk TO our children. Often we don’t hear them out, what they think about the things and rules we impose on them. Why not involve them in the talk and hear their side? For sure they have points of their own. This will build the child’s confidence and they will come to realize that you are ready to listen to them. Master this and this will be very helpful come teenage years.
